The Meaning of Eden

Recordar: to Remember, as in
to re-member the fragments, as in
to re-join the parts to the whole,
re-connect through the heart, through the soul

to the infinite Source, the perennial Season,
asi el cor-razón is the core of all reason,
reason we fall – in Love – in duality
into illusion, back into Reality,

this is the meaning of the Garden of Eden:
oneness with nature – the art of just breathin –
the art of just being, like being a child,
living spontaneously, free and wild,

in a sense, the Garden is our innocence
lost to time and adulthood, hence
the cost of our living is suffering, being fenced
off from our bliss because of this density,

when we are kids we know not good and evil,
only ecstasy, but then comes our upheaval,
we lose our union with nature, yes, we fall
and our whole lives are lived for this sacred retrieval,

the upsetting onset of our sexuality
throws us into a new sense of duality,
gradually we accept our mortality
challenging us to universality

to harmonize with the rest of creation,
reconcile the self with all our relations,
work day and night for the soul’s liberation
until we realize a world with no separation

but first we must suffer, in order to grow,
we must feel the pain of others as our own,
this is the choice to be human, to know
ourselves as God, and so come back home.

and just like the cycle from children to sages,
humanity must suffer through our dark ages
to evolve to the state of the saint and the Poet
to get back to where we started, but to know it.

this is the meaning of the story of the fall,
and it’s actually not a bad thing at all,
we ate from the apple to answer the call
of evolution, of being human, yes y’all,

it’s perfect. it’s all rightfully planned.
out of darkness must come the Light, understand:
para encontrarla, primera pierda,
está Dios en el corazón – Recuerda.

De-Cipher

(a song by The Eyedealists - Adam Gottlieb, Ty Lee, and Carla Starla)

so what is this Babylon? what is our battle on?
before we babble on, rattlin off another angry song,
let’s give a definition so the listeners get a handle on
this rasta vernacular, give us an example mon,

men beating and dominating women – That’s Babylon
weakness, scared into submission – That’s Babylon
fear of the other; superstition – That’s Babylon
ignorance over intuition – That’s Babylon
relentless ruthless rhetoric – That’s Babylon
"average is all you're gonna get" – That’s Babylon
battles fighting over stupid shit – That’s Babylon
victories with both sides spent – That’s Babylon
mind-control media matrix – That’s Babylon
corporations being people without faces – That’s Babylon
soldiers & the governments they kill for – That’s Babylon
McDonald’s brainwashing you with billboards – That’s Babylon
a WalMart on a sacred native landmark - That’s Babylon
sports teams with Indians for mascots – That’s Babylon
U.S. colonization of Puerto Rico – That’s Babylon
Fear, craving, arrogance & ego - That’s Babylon

Babylon is man gone mad, satan’s battle on
sanity, it’s taxes payin for guns & atom bombs
to massacre dads & moms in places like Bagdad from
behind fancy desks in places like the pentagon

Babylon is famine on a land that shouldn’t happen on,
it’s damaging the planet’s atmosphere to make a massive profit,
it’s the corporate bastardization of rap songs,
it’s capitalist sacrilege, Christ turned Santa Claus.

Babylon is Monsanto gangsters putting patents on
seeds that they manufacture just to take advantage of
the have-nots, it’s savage jobs in factory cattle farms,
the animal food industry making us fat & cancerous,

Babylon is the white man’s battle on the black & brown
man, cops modern slave-captors, crackin down,
gavel on the stand, do you hear that, that’s the sound
of practical kidnapping: prison business cashin out

Babylon is media distraction blocking access from
the truth, news reports where more than half of the facts are wrong,
FEMA standing back while Katrina wreaked havoc on
New Orleans, and calling that disaster an act of God

the factory in Shanghai where a child put the apple on
your macintosh laptop/fashion fads & those who tag-along,
fabricated fears, a politician working as a pawn
of cash, in fact practically everything bad is Babylon

now you know what we mean by the word “Babylon”:
everything that ravages nature – and it’s rather strong.
that’s the bad news, the good news is that it’s passin on,
we can decide to decipher it - pass it on

When We Win

“First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you.
Then they fight you. Then you win.”
- Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi

When we win, wars will end & world peace will begin
When we win, the power of Love will purify sin
Fear’ll go out of fashion, passionate life’ll be in,
& we’ll all go out dancing in bliss, when we win

When we win, the youth are gonna run their own schools
self-government: people will make their own rules
Presidents will get dream guidance from Dr. King
When we win, there’ll be nothing left to do but sing,

When we win, politicians will speak over break beats,
in English class, kids’ll read Tupac & Jay-Z.
if you wear a tie to work, people might think you’re crazy,
cuz that’s some old shit, like driving daily

the average American will speak 7 languages
McDonalds will only sell organic vegan sandwiches
on Sundays corner stores will give out free smoothies,
documentaries will be the most popular movies

when we win, basic necessities will be free,
people will live safely in peaceful anarchy
strangers will hug & talk about life when they meet
& we’ll have professional clowns instead of police

When we win, we’ll see things that now we can’t fathom
“One Love” by Bob Marley’ll be the national anthem
better yet, there’ll be no more nations at all
cuz when we win, we’ll dissolve every border and wall

Prisons will become meditation centers,
Humanity will unlearn all races & genders,
Religious leaders will admit that all Truth is the same
And when you pray to God, you’ll use your own name

When we win, we’ll have changed the way we treat each other
When we see another, we’ll see a sister or brother
Whether they’re white or black, from up north or southern,
We’ll remember that we all come from the same Mother

Yes, when we win, we will recognize kin
in each other, heal Mother Earth, let Nature sing,
When we win, it’ll be the most beautiful thing
Gonna get back to the garden again, when we win.
